During the whirlwind tour from May 15 to June 2, 2008, the 22 year old Karmapa dazzled thousands of students in public venues in New York, Boulder and Seattle with his teachings. Students from the US, Canada, Asia and Europe flocked to witness these historic events.
Beginning with the first talk at the Hammerstein Ballroom in Manhattan, His Holiness’ messages were fresh and personal. His insights and compassion spoke directly to Western hearts and minds. He injected young energy into the course of study and practice of dharma in the West.
These not-to-be missed recordings will be available in a three-DVD set. They are the first in the series of presentation of Gyalwang Karmapa historic teachings in the west. The series is titled Wisdom of Enlightened Mind. This set includes teachings on Awakening the Heart, Healing the World and The Journey Begins. Each program is also available individually. Through this series, Karmapa shares his insights in everyday terms, using personal and contemporary examples, to teach on developing the mind of compassion, cutting through confusion, working positively with hardships and developing strong connections with the world around us.
Karmapa reaches out to his western students with love and understanding, while showing curiosity and eagerness to connect. And he fully appreciates the opportunity to speak to the many who came to listen to him on U.S. soil.
